What is GuttersUp?
GuttersUp is a new concept from Gutter Guards Direct that redefines how to think about the top-third of your home. It is the most important area on your home’s exterior, yet it’s a hidden cavity—likely rarely visited—between your living space and the outside world.
It contains your roof (heat deflection and water drainage) and gutters (water and debris management), your attic (heating and cooling regulation system), and your home’s ventilation system (mouth, nose and lungs).
Our objective is to highlight the importance of this area and address the costly issues that result from having poorly functioning gutters, ventilation, attic insulation and roofing.
GuttersUp supports our mission of providing vertically integrated water and energy management solutions for discerning homeowners.
What was the inspiration behind GuttersUp?
GuttersUp was introduced to highlight the importance of keeping the top-third of your home water tight, energy efficient, and healthy.
Having helped thousands of homeowners with their gutter, water and roofing problems, we have identified weak spots where homeowners are being forced to replace expensive mechanical and roofing systems without being made aware of the actual underlying problems.
This costly undertaking is the medical equivalent of treating the symptom rather than the cause!
By launching GuttersUp, we’re now in a position to help you address these hidden issues that will materially improve your home’s livability by eliminating costly replacements, lowering your energy bills and insurance premiums, and helping you build significant equity in your home.
What's included with GuttersUp?
Rather than looking at each offering as a standalone service, we’re integrating them as an interconnected path to achieving a comfortable and healthy home — hence the name, GuttersUp.
GuttersUp Integrated Services:
- Seamless Gutters
- Gutter Guards
- Attic Air Sealing
- Roof Ventilation
- Attic Insulation
- Metal Roofing (Standing Seam and Metal Shingles)
While you may not need all of these services, the key to attaining a comfortable, healthy, and cost effective home is identifying trouble spots using our comprehensive energy audit, and providing you with the data and a roadmap to address any areas of concern now and in the future.
How will you benefit from GuttersUp's services?
By following the steps outlined in the GuttersUp energy audit, your personal wealth could grow by up to $200,000 or more during your lifetime in your home, making your life richer than ever before.
By addressing these problems today, you will receive a lifetime benefit from valuable products and services that will fix core problems and last generations. Equally important, you will stop the costly replacement cycle associated with lower quality materials and substandard services.
Concerning facts in 2026 about the top-third of your home
- Did you know that the average architectural asphalt shingle roof with a 40-year warranty has a 15-year lifespan?
- Did you know that 9-in-10 home attics in the United States are under-insulated?
- Did you know that 90% of gutters installed on homes were installed improperly and may be undersized?
- Did you know that most gutter guards fail because they’re not tailored to your home’s design and environment?
- Did you know that many insurance companies are dropping, non-renewing or reducing coverage for asphalt shingle roofs installed more than 10-years ago?
Gutters are the best way to move water away from your home
Having helped homeowners and businesses solve gutter and water problems since 1996, perhaps there’s nobody better positioned to help you with your gutter issues.
We take gutter replacement to the next level by looking for ways to more effectively move water away from your home’s foundation. This includes upsizing gutters, moving and extending downspouts to more favorable areas, and guaranteeing that your gutters will drain properly 100% of the time.
It seems simple but, believe it or not—new or old—90% of gutters we inspect were improperly installed and might be undersized.
Gutter Guards are crucial for preventing damage to your home's exterior and keeping water out of your basement
Considering we got our start installing gutter guards in 1996, we know a thing or two most other contractors don’t.
We have been preaching for years that in order to get the best gutter guard, you need to pick one that will work with your environment.
That means a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work, which is why we offer several gutter covers for different environments and budgets.
Whether high-tech, stainless steel micro mesh gutter guards or basic perforated aluminum gutter screens, you can trust us to help determine the best gutter covers for your home.
Attic Air Sealing
Perhaps the most important part of the attic insulation process, air sealing is the first and most crucial step in limiting warm, moist air flow from your living space into your attic.
Effective air sealing will reduce energy bills, extend the life of your furnace and air conditioning compressor, while protecting your roof from prematurely failing, and minimizing, if not eliminating, ice dams.
Attic Insulation
There are five types of insulation: fiberglass, cellulose, wood fiber, mineral wool, and spray foam.
It is generally accepted that fiberglass is the cheapest and poorest performing insulator available. Cellulose, which is recycled newspaper, is an excellent insulator and sound deadener, but it can lose some of its insulating and protective values over time.
Wood fiber is new to the North American market after having been a popular choice in Europe for years. It provides similar insulating and sound deadening benefits to cellulose, without the downside. It is treated with boric acid, which makes it fire retardant, rodent and insect resistant. Wood fiber is an excellent insulator that wicks water, won’t irritate your eyes or skin, and is carbon negative since it is make from ground up wood chips.
We are a dealer for TimberHP’s innovative, chemical-free, carbon negative wood fiber insulation. Located in an old paper mill in Maine, it was recently featured on PBS’s This Old House.
The insulation consists of TimberBatts that pressure fit in between the floor joists and walls, TimberFill, which is blown in to achieve maximum R-values, and rigid board insulation that would have other uses within your home and attic space.
We also use spray foam to create additional R-value in tight spaces.
Prior to blowing in the new insulation, we will vacuum out your old insulation so we can install soffit ventilation baffles and properly air seal the attic floor joists, top plates, and ceiling penetrations.
Soffit Ventilation
Soffits are the logical place for intake air that then rises through and out the roof vents keeping the attic cold in the winter and allowing warm air to escape in the summer.
If soffit vents are missing, it’s likely that your gable or ridge vents are pulling air from your living space into your attic. This increases your utility bills, makes your furnace work harder and fail faster. It brings warm, moist air into your attic space, which can lead to mold, wood rot and increases the likelihood of ice dams in the winter.
A properly vented attic requires the correct balance of intake air from the soffits and air flowing out from the roof vents. Inadequate air intake or too much roof top ventilation will cause an imbalance resulting in air being pulled from your living space into your attic, which compounds the problem.
Roof Ventilation
As building science has evolved, it has become increasingly apparent that ventilation may be the most overlooked aspect of your roof system. The concept that hot air rises is exactly why we need to air seal your attic floor before blowing in insulation. If the attic floor is not properly sealed, it will draw air through plaster, drywall, lighting fixtures and electrical outlets into your attic space.
Gable vents, which are common in homes built from the early 1900’s and throughout much of the 20th century, were designed with the intent of moving air from one end of the attic to the opposite end. Unfortunately, it rarely works as designed.
Roof ventilation can take several forms, including ridge vents that are cut in at the peak of the roof and covered with plastic or metal ventilation panels and asphalt or metal shingles.
Other types of roof vents include static box vents, wind-driven turbine vents, and Aura Vents that provide similar air ventilation to turbine vents with the benefit of no moving parts.
Metal Shingles
Most homeowners don’t realize that there are several types of beautiful, durable, lifetime metal shingles available that look and perform better than asphalt and will last 70-100+ years.
An investment in quality metal shingles will last your lifetime and the lifetime of any future owners—whether you gift your home to your children, grandchildren or sell it. You and they will never have to install another roof again!
We have partnered with Isaiah Industries, the largest metal roofing manufacturer in the U.S., to offer their premium steel and aluminum shingles that have been produced since 1956.
